How strange it is to be anything at all.

You’d make an excellent survivalist.

- Andrew, said to me as I cut coffee cake using a straw to make perforations. Hey, we improvised a little breakfast in our hotel room!

There are indoor play gyms all over Seattle. It’s a great, cheap way to get out energy on days that it rains or is cold (most days).

Anthea’s now old enough that she joins in the fun. She loves the ride-on toys, baby climbing equipment and bounce houses. Today, she took her first wagon ride. Rosemary might’ve been even more excited about it than she was.

Rosemary and I made this gingerbread house a few days ago. It’s actually a classic German hexenhaus, if you must know specifics.

Rosemary mostly assisted by eating the stuff we decorated it with. And dumping sprinkles. Anthea helped by banging an empty box 200 million times on the table.

bujnik asked: Line drying clothes is a "UK trick"?

Yes! Hardly anyone has dryers there, compared to the States.

Dudes, we are getting stuff done.

On Saturday, we got cell phones (prepare yo’ selves for seeing more hipstamatic junk, because mama got a new iPhone.)

On Sunday, we bought a car. A brand new Ford Escape Hybrid. Very exciting, because I have never had a new car, and neither has Andrew. I got Rosie a new car seat, too. A Britax Boulevard 70. I did a lot if research, but in the end, we decided we’d pay whatever for maximum safety. The cars in the US are scarily huge, and I shudder to think about getting t-boned by some of these mammoths with my baby in the car. Now, we are just excitedly waiting for car to be in and car seat to arrive from Amazon!

Yesterday, we got approved for a home mortgage. We’re now actively house shopping! Ee! And then we came home and mailed off our 2009 amended tax return and 2010 tax return. Phew. Checking things off!

Rosie us super jetlgged. She keeps attempting to go to bed at 4:30, and her afternoon nap is shockingly long.

We took her early waking this morning as an opportunity to go to the DOL to get Andrew’s expired license renewed. So there’s my girl (and her blue spatula) cruising around the maze of chairs while we try to check off more to-dos.

One great thing has been grandma babysitting. We were able to car shop without the help of our tot. And, we might even get to go to movie. Moving back home, FTW!!

Also, apparently I'm no longer following you? Tumblr unfollowed about 50 people for me, which is just lovely. So now I'm re-following you.

Tumblr needs to get itself together!

Tumblr’s a piece of work. But also, I don’t use this blog (another fun Tumblr quirk)…follow me at babylux.tumblr.com. You may get a glimpse of CC’s London-side twin.

Orangutans are tied to the ground as villagers look on in Sungai Pinyuh, Indonesia’s West Kalimantan province. The primates were captured as they came to the village to look for food and were beaten, resulting in the death of one of them, according to a villager. Rainforests cover 60% of Indonesia but it has one of the planet’s fastest rates of deforestation – driving orangutans out of their natural habitats. Photograph: Stringer/Reuters

How sad is this picture.

Oh my god. This is horrifying!

You know you’re in Seattle when…they sell tim’s potato chips in the vending machine (jalapeño to boot!)

Damn I miss these. Andrew and I asked my mom to bring some Tim’s Jalapeno when she visits in a few weeks. Not sure how they’ll fare stuffed into a packed airplane bag, but none-the-less, we need some extra thick and crunchy!
